With magazines and newspapers we are used to seeing photographs side by side. Yet with the advent of the internet the way we view photos has changed. On the internet we generally view photos one at a time or we have to scroll down to see the next one.
The website, Two For the Road, by James Turnley is an interesting online experiment in photography. Two photos with similar visuals are presented side by side. When viewed, your interpretation/perception of each photograph influences how you see the other photograph. When the two photos are viewed as a whole the photographs take on a new meaning then what it might of been when viewed by themselves.
It's an interesting website to explore, I only wished he had made it easier to view past photo pairings, instead of having to constantly hit a next button to get to them.
